For breaking habits
Count the days without, even after a slip.
No phone after 10 PM, no sugar on weekdays, no beer after work. When you quit something, you count the days without and dread the one evening it happens anyway. In habmate that’s just one evening.
habmate supports habits. With an addiction, professional help belongs in the picture.

Thirty days without
Two jokers for thirty evenings.
A challenge with two friends: thirty days with no phone after 10 PM.
- Day 1
The rule is set.
You set up the challenge with two jokers. A missed evening uses up a joker instead of sending you back to the start.
- habmate
- Day 12
A birthday, a joker.
It gets late and the phone comes out. The evening costs you a joker, the challenge carries on, and so does your row on the leaderboard.
- habmate
- Day 30
Twenty-nine out of thirty.
The challenge is over and your habit keeps going. Its green days count toward Mastering, and the one evening is just a gap.

Your app
Quitting doesn’t need a second app.
A yes/no habit and, if you like, a challenge with others. Both are built into habmate.
Principle · A missed day doesn’t undo your progress
A relapse costs you one day.
Mastering counts the days you made it. A single evening doesn’t wipe them out.

Questions about quitting.
habmate is no substitute for treatment. It helps you count the days without and hold on to them.
How do I count a day without?
As a yes/no habit: at the end of the day you check it off if it worked. Your streak counts the days in a row, Mastering counts every green one.
What do strict, target and joker mean?
They’re a challenge’s rules for a missed day. Strict means starting over, target means a set number of days out of the total, and with jokers your first missed days are free.
Do I have to do this with other people?
No. You can do a challenge alone, and a habit doesn’t need a challenge at all.
For anyone letting go of something, one day at a time.
